Edition 7 – Spilling the Pilateas: Side Leg Series for Equestrians—Enhancing Length, Connection, and Control

Welcome back!

This week, we’re bringing it down to the mat with the Side Leg Series—your go-to for building that essential hip-to-heel connection. You’ll not only work on length and balance, but also refine the connection between your stable leg and your moving leg. This series packs a punch—it’s smooth, flowing, and yes, it may even give you slimmer hips and a toned seat!

You only need yourself and a mat (or a towel). If your hips are sensitive, a bit of padding is fine—just keep it moderate, so your balance stays true.

Mental checklist:

  • Alignment: Line up with the back edge of your mat, feet to the front edge.

  • Head placement: Choose what’s comfortable—support your head or rest it gently.

  • Powerhouse: Stay engaged and lifted—you never know when you’ll need that extra stability.

Train it on the mat. Ride it in the saddle. Steady and ready.

Cheers!
